What name should it be? – That Little Guy is definitely a “core” part of the club’s charm!
Some time ago, we asked our guests from all over the world what name we should give our mascot. The response was overwhelming. Here’s a list of the suggestions:
1. Corey: A pun on the “core” of an apple – perfect for a mascot at the center of the fun.
2. Crispin: A real apple variety name that sounds like a dapper young man.
3. Nong Apple: Using the Thai honorific Nong (younger brother/child), which is how many locals would naturally refer to him.
4. Pom: Short for Phom (the Thai word for “hair” but also a common nickname), or a play on Pomme (French for apple).
5. Chai: Meaning “victory” or “man” in Thai, giving him a strong local identity.
6. Mac: Short for McIntosh apples, fitting for a “cool” little guy.
7. Pip or Pippin: Refers to an apple seed – ideal for a small character who is “growing” with the club’s legacy.
8. Newton: A cheeky reference to Sir Isaac Newton and the famous falling apple.
